Jazz 90.1 gets its props….
Jazz 90.1 recently announced that it has been nominated for two awards by readers of local JazzWeek magazine, which is the “definitive jazz and smooth jazz national radio airplay chart.” They publish a weekly report of the top fifty jazz and smooth jazz recordings played on radio stations across the United States and Canada. WGMC Jazz90.1 has been nominated for Jazz Station of the Year in a Medium Market, and Derrick Lucas, Jazz90.1 Music Director was nominated for Jazz Programmer of The Year in a Medium Market. If I could only hear their now stronger signal (too much bounce off Cobbs Hill, I’m afraid…). I can stream the station, though. By the way, a JazzWeek Summit is happening at the end of the RIJF, June 15-17, here in Rochester, N.Y. The summit is intended for radio station program and music directors, representatives of major and independent music labels — promotion, marketing, artist relations — jazz artists, and journalists.
With this post, I inaugurate a new category….Rochester Jazz Stuff (OK, it’s sort of a catchall, but “General” just wasn’t cutting it for me).
