Tickets for RIJF 2006 go on sale
The Rochester International Festival will be held from June 9-17 in 2006. Club Passes for the Festival are on sale and, due to a price increase, early sales will keep you flat with last year’s pass. Here’s excerpts from the press release, which I received via email (go to www.rochesterjazz.com to get on their email release to receive announcements and other information during the time between now and the Festival):
Rochester, NY—November 23, 2005—Music fans, don’t miss the opportunity to save on the popular Rochester International Jazz Festival Club Pass. The Festival’s spectacular nine-day fifth anniversary edition will be held Friday June 9 through Saturday June 17, 2006.
The Club Pass is a great gift idea! Enjoy this one-time-only special holiday price of $75 plus $4 service charge. Good only through December 31, 2005.

The Pass price increases to $85 plus $4 service charge January 1, 2006 through March 3 and to $95 plus service charge April 1 to the Festival. Club Passes may be purchased online at www.rochesterjazz.com, at any Ticketmaster /Ticket Express outlet or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Rochester area festival-goers may purchase the Club Pass at the Ticket Express Box Office, 885 E. Main St., for a service charge of only $1 per pass. ACCESS Card holders: save $5 off the Pass when purchased at the Ticket Express Box Office, 885 E. Main St. Rochester, NY. ACCESS discount good at this location only.
The Club Pass provides access to more than 100 Club Pass Series shows during the festival, which will be held at Max of Eastman Place, Kilbourn Hall, the Big Tent, Montage Grille, the Little Theatre, Milestones and the State Street Bar and Grill at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
I was able to be at 19 shows in 2005, not counting the free stuff, so this is a no-brainer for me. The Pass doesn’t guarantee a seat or that you’ll make the right choices, but I’ll do my level best this year to to give you as much information as possible so that you have a plan when you hit the streets in June.
