Some highlights of upcoming jazz sounds to be found in Rochester and surrounding:
Victoria Rummler and Nico Morelli, Wednesday, August 17 at 8pm at the Little Theatre Café. According to the WGMC events calendar, vocalist Victoria Rummler, orginally from Pittsford, is now based in Paris, and with pianist Nico Morelli will sing standards and originals compositions, as they have done on a recent European tour.
The Clarissa Street Reunion, August 20th, from noon to 11:00 p.m, on Clarissa Street in Corn Hill. As noted in the WGMC Jazz Event Calendar, Tony Monaco and Company headline this year’s reunion (it was supposed to be David “Fathead” Newman, which informed my decision not to go to his gig earlier this year). Other jazz, blues and R&B acts at this year’s Reunion include (on two stages): Eddie Israel “Thatt Groupp”, ,Gap Mangione and his 5 piece band, Sonny Miles and Smiles, Greater Rochester Jazz Orchestra, and Jimmy Highsmith and Company, Bill Tiberio Group featuring Paradigm Shift w/Therese Lott, Tony Monaco and Company, Joe and the Jam Factory, Rockin Roz and the Knights of Soul, Todd East, Steve Grills and the Roadmasters, Rochester Finest, The John Cole Blues Band, Joe Beard, Rockin Robin and Bucket of Blues, and Innovation.
