Finally had some time to go onto the Blogsome forum and figure out how to get the link categories to display.

Along with many who had a few worries after the Montage re-opened, seemingly to become an overflow spot for the 20-something crowds from East Ave, I have been surprised and heartened by the bookings. The former Montage had served an eclectic menu of music with its fine dining experience. Sure now the fine dining is gone (it was always sort of surreal, I have to admit) and there are the usual local party bands, but heck, they need to pay the bills. These two shows are sort of short notice (actually the first one is tomorrow), but worth checking out if you can get out on a school night:

On Sunday at the Montage, there is a show that is becoming more interesting by the hour (they confirmed two more artists while I was writing this). I guess Sunday won’t be a school night this weekend. Support local jazz radio and go to the:

I’m planning on going to one or both of these shows. Haven’t seen the “new” Montage, so I’m looking forward to it. Too bad I couldn’t get them to honor the gift certificate we received from some of our colleagues at work for our wedding prior to the closing of the prior incarnation of Montage. It was worth a try….

Out of town for a short vacation last week and over the weekend. Comments were few (actually 1), but nice.

Right now, I’m re-thinking this hear blog a bit. I see where it’s heading and I don’t want it to be merely a rehash of the music listings available from other sources. Instead, I’m going to add links to my usual sources for jazz listings on the blogroll at left, post highlights for some upcoming jazz gigs, and write about shows I’ve seen and Rochester area venues. Hope it works for you (frankly, at this point, I’m writing this blog for myself, some friends I’ve told about it, and a few folks that happen upon it in the blogosphere). If not, let me know.

I won’t be able to post for a few days, so I would love to hear from anyone who has found this blog. While this request in the end may only be confirming the utter obscurity in which this blog labors, please post a Comment to this post to let me know what’s not working for you, what is, to let us know about venues or shows you’ve seen, or set out what you would like to see here in Rochester and its environs.
