The Festival is Coming….
In 2002, just a few months after moving to Rochester, I bought two tickets to see Sonny Rollins at the first Rochester International Jazz Festival, just hoping that I’d have someone to join me in experiencing what I hoped would be an amazing evening of music. It was and I did. The woman I went to see Sonny with that evening in 2002 is now my wife, Dianna. Although I missed year two, last year’s festival was a treat—I heard some wonderful music and the new outdoor venues really made it feel like more of a festival.
A couple of days ago, John Nugent announced the lineup for the 2005 RIJF. Running from June 10-18, RIJF promoter John Nugent has again programmed an incredible range of artists from all over the world. Nine days, 500+ musicians, 100+ shows. There are acts to please all of the different jazz hounds that live in my head. This one looks like it’s going to be great!
